 PLATFORM RESEARCH

User Insights + Data
The core of this assignment was rooted in deep research about the importance of presenting massive data through a limited lens, with opportunity to educate users, engage users and maintain transparency.
Prominent features of the projected engagement platform were form functionality, gallery with submission form and a sticky vertical navigation menu.
The greatest vision in our research was to ensure that media used represented our target audience with equity and balance, as well as through empowering and supportive visuals.

INSPIRATION + ANALYSIS

User Flows

Multiple flows for overall efficiency + to create navigational success throughout the different features of the application + design.
User perspective is integral to key feature development and decisions on design elements.
I created pathways to success for the four highlighted paths.
Accessibility :
Designing for Imagine Just, we needed to measure accessibility and multi-device functionality.
We were gearing for a range of users throughout the community ranging from 6 years old – 60 years old.
We wanted to ensure that we used simplified layouts for forms and incorporated supportive icons.

Visual Design

Wireframes

Iterations + Intentions
At the beginning of my design process I created wireframes for testing purposes.
Designing for the user.
Throughout the design process , I created a uniform set of wireframes that evolved as the project transformed. I focused on key features such as the global navigational tool, home screen cards and onboarding tour. These were to center the user experience in a catalyst like interaction where they learned, engaged and experienced the application with awareness of the attention to design elements. The simplified dashboard menu and drop down elements focused on principles of the project purpose.

PURPOSE MEETS DESIGN.

With our in-depth research for the synthesis platform, we were able to derive a plan that met the needs of both users and clients. I designed a simplified dashboard, an icon centric grid for the various tenets of the project principles and facilitated space to feature blog/vlog elements. We designed a conclusive report to support the website information and based it on graphic representations from the design to keep elements cohesive.

Engagement Platform Data & Inspiration

Through tool-centric analysis, I collected inspiration from various design platforms with features that corresponded with our need for reaching the community of practice, gathering form data and maintaining a large database of information about the initiative.

FINDINGS + CHALLENGES

My greatest findings for this project circled around accessibility, fluid design and co-creation. Through collaborating with the design team, client core team and community members, I learned how valuable user insight is to usability, and user experience. Some challenges were various time constraints, client processing time and of course; the pandemic.

It is time to represent equity in the public arts sector, when art is fair; there is greater opportunity and inspiration for diverse communities.
